Cosmetic Gynecology
Also referred to as aesthetic gynecology—is seeing increasing demand in the area of elective surgery. Many women struggle with vaginal issues that are considered “cosmetic” in nature, but that often impact their daily lives in major ways. While women seek these services for a variety of reasons--and the treatments oered are varied—insurance companies fail to cover a majority of those remedies once they are viewed as cosmetic in nature or, as they would call it, “medically unnecessary” or “elective”. While insurance companies may fail to see the need for treatments, women suer with symptoms that directly aect their mental and physical health. At Custom Beaute, we have recently partnered with Aesthetic Gynecology physicians Dr. George Danakas and Dr. Armen Kirakosyan to bring services to our clients, who, most of the time, are completely unaware that alleviation of these symptoms were possibilities for them.
Services such as ThermiVa, which is vaginal rejuvenation and tightening using radio frequency, and the O-Shot which can help them with issues such as bladder incontinence, lubrication—and heightening the big “O”—all while potentially avoiding higher cost surgical options. Though, at the end of the day, depending on individual needs, our doctors want only the best care for their clients, and consults for surgeries like labiaplasty, clitoral hood reduction, and perineoplasty amongst others are available as well. But exactly what are these treatments, and how they can help you is what is on the minds of many women who walk through our doors.
It is fair to say that no woman ENJOYS going to a gynecologist. Cold hands, cold instruments, your modesty jettisoned at the door, and the lovely talk about the weather to get you through even the most basic of exams. Some women tend to skip it all together until something looks or feels wrong to them—and even then a lot of us would rather check google first, or even drop our pants for our loyal best friend to see if something “looks right to them.” Even speaking about these issues is hard for many as we are talking about the most intimate parts of our bodies, often in front of a stranger, however medically qualified he may be. Some women suer for years before reaching out for help in these areas; living in pain from dryness or tightness, forcing themselves to rebuke their partner and then beating themselves up for it. Or, for the women who have delivered vaginally and never regained elasticity. Hysterectomies, weight loss, menopause…all of these things—and more—have effects that can cause women discomfort or even pain, and can leave them self-conscious about the very thing that we, as women, hated talking about when things were going “normally” in our nether regions. Further, we oftentimes feel that these are things that we are sort of, stuck with, or forced to suer through and allowing it to affect our self-esteem, our relationships, and our health. These are the consequences of life, right? Aging, having babies, hormonal dysfunction, weight loss…these are all side effects of, well, being a woman! Fortunately for us, technology has offered us solutions to these unspoken situations that we often suer with in silence: vaginal rejuvenation.
Our board-certied gynecologists are now oering non-surgical vaginal rejuvenation options for women. Custom Beaute is proud to oer ThermiVa and the O-Shot, in addition to the surgical consults. More than 115,000 ThermiVa treatments have been performed worldwide, with clients raving about the results. ThermiVa is an energy based, radio frequency treatment for the vagina: “Collagen fibers when heated contract and…are thought to be the mechanism of action of the immediate tissue tightening… Researchers have also shown regression of stress urinary incontinence with tightening. In lay terms, the heat applied during the RF treatment stimulates your body to regenerate your own collagen and elastin, firming and tightening throughout the treatment. As well, the increased blood ow helps decrease vaginal dryness, resulting in increased sexual satisfaction. The best part is that there is no downtime, minimal side effects, and real time results that you can notice after one treatment. This treatment is also an exceptional alternative for those who are concerned with labial imbalances or loose skin after weight loss. The O-Shot, on the other hand, is meant for those suffering with urinary incontinence, low sexual desire, trouble reaching orgasm, painful sex, and Lichen Sclerosus. Also a non-surgical treatment, the O-Shot consists of drawing the patient’s own blood and spinning it in a centrifuge to acquire the platelet rich plasma, or PRP. The PRP is then injected into the area near the clitoris and upper vagina, and results in increased sensitivity, increased desire, tighter vaginal skin, relief of urinary incontinence, and better, healthier sex.
These options can be life-changing for women. While there are going to be certain cases where surgery is necessary, our doctors are up front during their consults, telling you then and there what the best path for each individual client is. This is bigger than sex; this is giving women their power back, their confidence back, their LIFE back. This means a path free of pain and of self-consciousness; regaining what was once theirs. It might be considered cosmetic because of the appearance change, but all women know that it is far bigger than that, and is something that is uniquely ours to make a decision on.
